When you meet Piff (short for ‘Epiphany’), bright words like “glorious” and “happy” will immediately come to mind. Her shining spirit and smiley demeanor bring light to a room. She loves animals, people, and children. She enjoys talking on her phone and texting (although she is careful about her balance of ‘phone time’ and ‘face-to-face’ time), and leaning into the social aspects of being a teenager. It’s safe to say that Piff has welcomed her teen years with open arms. It should come as no surprise that Piff also has a stellar sense of humor. Her lively personality allows for a lot of laughter in her life. She is charming, with a big heart and a lot of love to give.
Piff loves animals. She loves holding them, caring for them, and building stronger relationships with any and all pets in her life. Recently, she began training to become a volunteer at her local animal shelter so she could continue following this passion.
Piff is a creative. She has been a writer for most of her life and has saved a number of her old journals (some featured right here on her profile!). Her journals are a place to express her feelings, to process what’s going on in the world and in her own life, or even just to jot down a goofy rhyme. She enjoys looking back over them and seeing how much she’s grown over time. What’s she noticed when she reads back over them? “I had a lot of intel…I wrote a lot of smart things that I still wish I applied to (my life).” For example, she says, how a social media-driven world can pressure teenagers to not be themselves. Piff is a strong advocate for being true to yourself.
A great self-advocate and an excellent communicator, Piff can hold conversations with just about anybody. She is often interested in learning new things (skills, hobbies) and meeting new people. Piff is the kind of young person who is constantly absorbing new information and discovering her own talents. She is always ready for the next adventure.
As she navigates the big world of high school, Piff remains comfortable and excited by the journey. She does well in school, academically and socially, and loves to learn. Her keen sense of self-discovery only enhances her overall interest in the academic world. She has her sights set on higher education when she graduates, attending a local college (maybe Gonzaga and/or Evergreen State, she says!).
As she dreams of the future, Piff is open about her thoughts and feelings. Whether discussing her past experiences or potential endeavors, Piff is comfortable having a discussion with those she trusts. As she has learned more and more positive ways to process her experiences, Piff has been able to discover herself while exploring what her future might entail. Learning on her own is very important to Piff, but she welcomes encouragement and guidance from people in her life.
Piff relies on the relationships she has built throughout her life. Keeping in contact with some of her relatives and family is important to her. Piff is looking for an adoptive family who will help her set goals to strive toward in the future. Supporting her current and future goals, offering structure, and providing the right amount of guidance is great for this teenage girl. Piff responds well to positivity, honesty, and respect. She would love the chance to have younger siblings, but would do well in any family makeup. Hear more straight from Piff in her own words throughout her In-Depth Profile. Get to know her big heart and sense of humor, because only she can say it best. And let us know if you’d like to learn more about Piff!
Beyond the Profile: What’s there to say about Piff that she hasn’t already shared herself? A list of adjectives wouldn’t do any good – she has been so fully invested in creating her own In-Depth profile that a hundred different qualities of hers already spill out in front of you. I’ll say this: One of my favorite parts about working with Piff was how thoughtfully she approached the idea of collaborating on an In-Depth Profile. First, we talked about it; then she took time to sit with the idea; then she looked at other teens’ In-Depth Profiles, where she found inspiration in their courage to put their voice into their own profiles; and then Piff decided “yes, I want to do this” and totally made the project her own. If that doesn’t speak to at least part of who she is…I don’t know what would. Piff is a total rockstar and I had an absolute blast working side-by-side with her.
