K-Lee helped create a video of her recording session to show off her love of music.

K-Lee recorded an album of some of her favorite songs to share with families.

K-Lee is a joy to be around. She is outgoing, social, funny, and makes friends easily. She loves being involved in a wide range of activities and hobbies. In fact, it takes a number of words to begin describing who K-Lee is.

K-Lee is an artist. She paints and draws and loves to tackle craft projects. She has her own collection of art supplies to create in her free time, and you can see an example of her artwork as you scroll down her profile!

K-Lee is a singer. She is active in the choir program at her school and has regular concert performances. She also loves listening to music and has many favorite artists and songs. And not only does she love singing, she has a major talent for it! Be sure to check out her video link, above, and her album link, below, to see more.

K-Lee is a writer. In her free time, she writes her own songs and poetry. She says both performing music and writing help her process her emotions and express how she feels.

“Singing expresses emotions, how people feel, what’s going on in their life…not just my songs, but I sing other people’s songs to help express the way I feel.” -K-Lee

One of K-Lee’s favorite places is the YMCA. She loves spending time there on weekends and after school, making friends and helping out with different programs. She also is preparing to work with younger children as a local camp counselor.

K-Lee very much wants to be adopted. She would especially like to have an adoptive family living in the Pacific Northwest to help her be able to maintain some of her significant relationships. Even though K-Lee and her brothers are not placed in the same home, they remain in contact and it will be important for her adoptive family to help her maintain these sibling connections.

In the 2017-18 school year, K-Lee is in the 9th grade. She enjoys school and does well in most subjects. While K-Lee is very good about turning in her homework, she would appreciate having adoptive parent(s) who will support and encourage her as she works to improve how she prepares for and performs on tests. She likes staying involved in her school’s choir program. K-Lee also enjoys regularly attending youth group and investing in her Christian faith.

K-Lee has so much to share with her adoptive family! Her social worker is especially interested in hearing from couples and single parents who genuinely enjoy teenagers and who would enjoy parenting and mentoring this sweet, young teen. If you think you would be a good fit for K-Lee, we want to hear from you soon!

Beyond the Profile: K-Lee and I met a handful of times over the course of a couple months, and I cannot say enough about her enthusiasm, immense talent, and genuine desire to share some of her story with families. She was a total rock star from start to finish (literally and figuratively!) and really helped drive the creative process. Starting with something she knew she loved – singing – she took it to another level by recording some of her favorite songs for her own ‘mini album.’ Coupled with her willingness to open up ‘behind the scenes’ on her connection with music, I was honored to co-create a project with her that she was proud of – knowing that it was her voice families would hear. This is no small task for a teenager; she showed all the courage, poise, and personality in the world. I’m thrilled you get to ‘meet’ K-Lee by hearing her tell some of her own story.
